Morning Walk
Morning Walk is one of a suite of linocut prints exploring the activity of dogwalking in suburbia. In this series I use the process of relief printing to record the bond between humans and animals in an everyday environment.
I spend lots of time walking my local streets exercising our dog and this activity provides the inspiration for my art work, which starts with a simple line drawing recalling incidents on route from memory.
The bold graphic effect is achieved by using a single linoleum block and black printing ink.
The cutting process begins by transfering my drawing onto the linoleum with red carbon paper and carving into the surface intuitively with sharp lino cutting tools.
A limited edition handmade print using the traditional hand burnishing method of printing with a baren to transfer the image from linoleum onto smooth 220gsm acid free paper.
This print numbered, titled and signed in pencil, protected with glassine tissue paper and wrapped in a cellophane. Carefully rolled and packed in a sturdy triangular tube, insured, tracked Royal Mail delivery within the UK and 2 to 3 working days for Europe, 3 - 5 days Globally, so that it arrives safely and in perfect condition.
Paper Size: 60 x 42 cm
Image size 42 x 29.7 cm
